During this past year, more than $100,000 was raised by 20 SADS families who held fundraising events to benefit the SADS Foundation. There are as many ideas as there are families, but take a look at the following ideas to inspire you to create your own fundraising event.
Many families host different types of fun runs or join established runs on behalf of the SADS Foundation. If you need more specific ideas about how to do this, check out www.sads.org/Get-Involved/Take-Steps-to-Stop-SADS to learn about our signature event: Take Steps to Stop SADS and the available resources we have for your use. We will even send a Take Steps to Stop SADS T-Shirt for you to wear on your run.
We always have a great response for our red wristbands. Some people sell them for $5 each – while others use them as ‘tickets’ to get in to their SADS Foundation benefit. Be creative!
In Illinois, one special neighborhood started selling small Christmas Trees – complete with three strings of white lights and a base. It started small, but now they sell more than 2,000 trees every year. It’s beautiful to drive through the neighborhoods with all the glowing trees. A how-to manual is available from the Brittany’s Trees team through the SADS Foundation.
Contact local merchants and businesses about donating goods or services to be auctioned off to raise funds for the SADS Foundation. Remind them that all donations are tax deductible and great advertising. The SADS Foundation staff can help with solicitation and tax receipt letters. The auction can be held in conjunction with many of the event ideas listed here.
Many community and private courses, courts or lanes will assist in arranging for a tournament with as few as 24 players and as many as 100. You can add food and prizes to the festivities find sponsors and charge an entrance fee to raise funds. After expenses, the net proceeds are given to the SADS Foundation.
Join with your family and friends to hold a neighborhood event that brings together different items or talents and let guests know that the proceeds raised will be given to support the life-changing services of the SADS Foundation.
You can create your own personal fundraising page and choose the Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes Foundation as your charity.
