What is Timothy Syndromes?

Timothy Syndromes is a rare type of Long QT Syndrome. There are two types of Timothy Syndromes: Type 1 in which webbed fingers and/or toes are present (syndactyly), and Type 2 which is not associated with syndactyly.

What are the symptoms of Timothy Syndromes?

Cardiac arrest or fainting due to trademark cardiac arrhythmia called torsade de pointes
Family history – of a SADS diagnosis, SADS symptoms, or sudden unexplained death of a family member under 40 years of age
Syndactyly (webbed fingers and/or toes)
Severe developmental delays; sometimes autism

What tests may be used to make a Timothy Syndromes diagnosis?

ECG
Fetal ultrasound may show significantly reduced heart rates

What are the treatment options for Timothy Syndromes?

Medication, beta blockers
ICD
Avoid drugs that can prolong the QT Interval
