Fund in Memory of Yoan-Manuel Hernandez

Yoan, known as "Papo" was born 1/9/1998. As a child he was full of energy, witty, clever, strong, and most of all persistent. His greatest quality was his heart...he hated people getting bullied and helped many who experienced such cruelty. He would give his food to those less fortunate as he knew he can always get some food later in the day. He didn't care if he got in trouble but if someone needed his help he dropped everything to help them.

As he grew up into a young adult he made it more clear how much he loved and enjoyed helping people. He put himself last and made sure others were well before moving on to dealing with himself. He had goals, dreams and was very ambitious. He didn't stop until he got what he wanted. He didn't accept failures, that was not in his vocabulary. He worked hard and found ways to accomplish his goals. He loved his family and all he ever wanted was love. He was maturing and becoming a young adult wanting to start a life with someone who would love him as much as he can love them.

Family was important to him. He enjoyed vacation and time with his sister and brothers. He looked forward to the holidays and asked months in advance what was for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. He love baseball and was so proud to say that he got his family loving the sport he loved most. He used to say "if it wasn't for me you all wouldn't love baseball like you do". I loved watching him play, he was a 1st baseman, catcher, pitcher, and he played with love. He also loved motorcycles and cars. His obsession was to fix it and make them better. My biggest fear was always that he would passed from either a Motorcycle or car accident. He used to say to me "I am the best driver out there, is the other people that do not know how to drive" and not for nothing he manage to keep his injuries small.

I love so many things about him, he was open and almost always told me his life stories even knowing that I may not like it, but he would start the conversation by saying 'I know you are going to get mad but" and then he would go on to tell me his story. I believed him and believed in him, because sooner rather than later I always found out the truth, and he had always told me the truth. My son had a lovely smile, he had the best teeth ever, but his humble personality made him most handsome. What I loved about him most was that many people would go on to tell me how well-mannered my son was. He made my heart proud even though there were times he made me just want to scream, but he was a kid being a kid.

I love my Papo dearly and his absence has definitely left a big emptiness in my and many people's life. He will always live on. He loved life. He lived his life and his memory will remain alive until my last breath. May our heavenly father Jehovah keep him in his memory and have him at his best resting state. I pray that we can see each other soon and hug each other once again, and that the tears that I shed now will no longer be tears of sadness but of everlasting joy.
