This is my son Jordan, living in music, as he loved to do, at one of his favorite festivals in San Francisco, Outside Lands. Healthy, happy, working for a company he loved in San Francisco, always surrounded by a large group of close friends, Jordan was truly living his best life. During his teen years, while attending extremely competitive middle and high schools in the Bay Area, Jordan began talking about his "heart racing." We had what we believed were the best of pediatricians and doctors for our family and they were all quick to diagnose him with "stress-induced anxiety" from school. Not one doctor ever referred us to a cardiologist for a simple EKG and stress test which would have quickly confirmed a genetic predisposition for SADS.Jordan passed in his sleep on November 13, 2019 at the age of 26. Our lives have been forever changed by the insurmountable, tragic loss of this incredible young man who had his whole life ahead of him. None of us will ever get past losing him, and as his Mom, I can only say that I would trade my life for his rather than endure living without him here. He was sunshine. He was love. He was light.
We have established a scholarship foundation in his name at the college where he graduated, California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. We will raise awareness there through the foundations at the Orfalea School of Business he graduated from in 2015 as well as the university's music department. The scholarships will be used to further the programs Jordan began and attended at Orfalea as well as to help the Music Department's students attend workshops to learn to perform at festivals around the world. We will also continue to raise money for SADS and awareness campaigns in Northern California and on the Central Coast.
